We recently purchased a dresser and bespoke island unit painted to a colour we chose to match our existing kitchen .We were more than impressed by the price and quality of the furniture when it arrived and delivery service was much appreciated. I was out and unable to be at our home while my husband received our furniture. He mentioned that they were very helpful and cleaned up all the wrapping and placed the two pieces in the perfect place as we had wanted. All in all a very good experience that we recommend to others we will be back for more in the New Year .

We bought a table and chairs from this company back in April and it arrived promptly - but with an area that has been scraped on the side of the table top. Then ensued a load of blame between the delivery company and Alexander Ellis, but i was informed a replacement table top would be sent to me as a priority.Several weeks later we finaly gor the new top delivered. This one split entirely in two, we sent the delivery immediately back. Eventually after a total of 3 months we got an undamaged table top. Once this company have hold of your money they are not interested in you. If something goes wrong they fob you off. They never phoned to apologise, and never contacted me ( appart from during our initial concern over the original delivery) other than when I specifically requested it. I got the distinct impression that they would not have sorted it had I not phoned them up to chase. They have a lovely showroom and our table and chairs are great... but they absolutely let themselves down. We have a whole house to furnish but we would never use them again.

Where to start with this company?Firstly I think we should start and agree with some of the other reviews on here. The wait times are indeed incredibly long and if something does go wrong, once they have your money they really don't want to know at all! The actual shop itself is very inviting and the staff seemed friendly. We opted for a new kitchen build with A Ellis along with a few other kitchen/dining room pieces.Initially getting someone out for a quote was tiresome. Perhaps this should have been an early warning sign!Fast forwarding though and the kitchen was eventually built, however it became evident very quickly that something was wrong! The paint started to chip off and this was without any use/interaction. It got to the point were we didn't want to use the kitchen at all through fear of the damaging it further. We contacted the company and after many calls they reluctantly sent out two work men. They inevitably blamed the craftsmanship of each side of the company (Alexander ellis display the kitchens and paints them, whilst country kitchens actually build them). The two gentlemen went on to add that a few elements of the kitchen should have been done correctly in the first place. They then carried out some work themselves and touched up the kitchen with a matching pot of paint with a varying degree of success (trying to match something already painted is not easy). It was a this point that it was almost laughable, they said didn't you receive your care package? Which at the end of the day in essence was a small pot of paint, presumably the one they brought with them, a brush, and a kitchen sponge. The problems with the paint continued as did the problems with the general craftsmanship, stuck doors, sharp handles etc. The calls and personally visiting their shop seemed endless, draining you of any hope that things would ever get sorted. Members of staff saying at all costs don't touch the kitchen up yourself! Contrary to earlier advice. The final call was with the chap in charge who asked what is it you actually want? A nice presentable, usable kitchen was the first thought that raced through our minds. We made our intentions clear of what we would like to happen to move things forward. We asked for the kitchen to be properly touched up in situe or for the whole kitchen to be removed, resprayed and replaced. None of that is going to happen is what he replied. We said I'm sorry then, we will be forced to contact trading standards. His reply was "you do that" That hardly seems like a response from a company you've just spent almost 6k with on a kitchen alone. Not to mention other furniture of which the same problems are occurring. Brown marks appearing through the paintwork, chips etc.. He went on to add we've replaced the dresser you bought from us three times. Yes A ellis doesn't that tell you something? That the dresser itself kept arriving with constant issues, all of which very noticeable, even by the two workmen, guests or family friends. The chap in charge obviously has a right to reply here but I can picture the response, he will say the person doesn't understand a wooden country kitchen, or how we were never satisfied, finding faults etc. I would say sadly this could have been resolved so easily. Like lots of bad companies nowadays, you got your money and then you didn't really want to know. It became a hassle for you! In total we spent over 8000 including furniture with yourselves and this is how you repaid us! You don't just have to take my word for it though, see the uploaded pictures (this was without using the kitchen at all). Read the reviews, especially the ones in which a problem has occurred for people. If the owner has any conscience or consideration he will read this, return and fix said issues but I won't hold my breath. I'm now faced with the long battle of perusing them via trading standards. Final words of warning, items will always look lovely in their showroom, but please just exercise some caution as I'd hate for anyone else to feel as cheated as we do

Excellent service, good quality and good value too. I certainly do NOT understand the negative comments about service because we've never experienced anything like it, You order and when the furniture is made and ready to deliver they phone to arrange. Dates for furniture coming into stock, especially if it is being made can either be early or late which is why upon order you are given an approximate delivery time. We have only had excellent service

We bought an asymmetrical bookcase from the Beverley shop and were delighted with the level of service and friendliness. The price was much cheaper than a similar one seen elsewhere which is always a plus and without having to compromise on quality or size. We could not take delivery when it was ready but the shop very kindly held on to it for an extra 4 weeks with no fuss or charge. The delivery crew were helpful and very professional. We would highly recommend this emporium and its employees and for someone who dislikes shopping this was actually a pleasurable experience.
